Absolute Poker Bad Beat Jackpot Poised To Break Million Dollar Mark (June 21, 2008)
Someday soon, a bad beat is going to make an online poker player very happy.
The bad beat jackpot at Absolute Poker is starting off the summer already
in record territory. The jackpot currently looms at more than $900,000 and is rapidly closing in
on the million dollar mark. The milestone is expected to be reached within the next 24 hours if the jackpot
is not hit before then.
Traffic at Absolute Poker has
picked up noticeably as players try to cash in on the record jackpot. Average player counts
have risen a whopping 35% over last month, at a time when the onset of summer typically brings a
slowdown in traffic.
The positive attention is a welcome change for Absolute, which was hit by
an insider 'super-user' cheating scandal in 2007.
Bad publicity from the scandal has lingered as UltimateBet, which
is co-owned with Absolute Poker, has dealt with
its own super-user scandal. UltimateBet also faced
suspicions of manipulating its bad beat jackpot recently when the same player hit the jackpot twice in two months.
