The big advantage to playing poker at is that it is run by a conglomerate of provincial governments (BC, Manitoba & Quebec). That translates to mean that it is easy, inexpensive (i.e., free) and secure to deposit and withdraw funds. You simply make a "bill payment" to them through your bank to deposit funds into your Playnow account (no charge if "bill payments" are normally included in your banking services). Withdraws are equally simple - just ask and they will transfer whatever amount you want from your Playnow account directly into your Canadian bank account at no charge. While a credit card is required to prove that you are who you say you are, and that you are of age, there is no requirement to actually use your credit card. Hence no credit card charges, and no foreign currency charges.

I think that the reason that so many people blast their support is more because the poker client is very, very basic and the support people can't do anything to improve it. Unfortunately it is provided by a third party company, and the reality is that three provinces in Canada (with very, very few real money players) simply don't command enough attention to cause the software provider to make improvements.

But, for non-software related issues, their support is probably one of the best in the world. They are available over the phone (instantly), via online chat (instantly), and through e-mail (generally within a few hours). Who else does that?

If you are resident in one of the provinces that they operate in (BC, Manitoba & Quebec), don't need a lot of competition, can schedule your playing activities to coincide with when the few other players are online, and value cheap, easy and secure money transfers, this seems to be as good a site as you’re going to find.

This is the new government run site, it runs on the Boss software. Support has been great so far. The only real problem is the low player volume, it can be hard to find a game at off peak hours. Players are super loose and many have no idea how to play at all.
