Daniel Negreanu won his eighth bracelet in the $100,000 High Roller PLO event for over $2.2 million in front of a huge rail of fans on Thursday night.
The Canadian, now Vegas-based, poker legend began the final day as the second-largest stack out of four returning players and after a few hours, Negreanu was able to secure his second career PLO bracelet.
In order to do so, he had to go through a field of 83 high-roller PLO specialists. At the final table, he bested the likes of Jeremy Ausmus, Sean Winter and Chris Frank before finally overcoming Artur Martirosian heads up.
Negreanu’s bracelet-winning WSOP vlog is sure to be one of the most viewed of the entire summer, as he won his bracelet away from the streaming cameras while the ESPN production crew prepared for the Main Event. Something that some fans were not happy about. Several comments bemoaned not being able to watch their favorite player’s eighth bracelet win unfold in real time.
But the WSOP X account captured the winning moment on video as Negreanu kissed his wife, Amanda, and then celebrated with the large rail that cheered him on to victory.
Negreanu’s Bracelet Drought a Thing of the Past
The grand prize total was the greatest in his career out of all of his bracelet wins. It was his third seven-figure bracelet first-place prize, joining the over $1.1 million that he won in the 2024 Poker Players’ Championship.
This marks the second bracelet in three years for the now 51-year-old “Kid Poker,” as he has put his former bracelet drought even further in the rearview mirror. One of the most successful poker players in history, he did not win a WSOP bracelet in Las Vegas for 16 years, from 2008 until he finally broke the drought by winning the PPC in 2024. The drought was made more painful for him by the fact that he had accumulated eight runner-up finishes during the 16-year wait.
Negreanu did win two bracelets outside of Vegas during that period, one in WSOP Asia Pacific and one in WSOP Europe, both in 2013.
PLO was the game that started his fabled career of capturing bracelets back in 1998 at the age of just 23, when he was still truly Kid Poker. His next two bracelets came in quick succession in 2003 and 2004, before the final one, before the drought in 2008.
His WSOP wristwear ledger comes from a well-balanced mix of poker disciplines. He now has two bracelets in PLO, two in Limit Hold’em, two in No Limit Hold’em and two mixed game events.
Bracelet Second Fiddle to Baby Negreanu in 2026
While a WSOP bracelet has always been the crown jewel for Negreanu and the thing he has cared about and strived for the most, it is only the second-most exciting thing to happen in his life this year.
He and Amanda announced at the start of the WSOP that they will be having a baby boy due in November.
