Golden Nugget Las Vegas has a new location for its famous poker room, which remains the only one in downtown Vegas.
The poker room moved to the Rush Tower lobby within the venue on Wednesday, with a grand opening ceremony scheduled for July 28. The new room has nine tables and can seat more than 60 players at one time.
The new location for the poker room is in a more spacious, cleaner area that gives a more modern feel, but still keeps the same throwback vibe of the historic downtown casino. The room boasts upgraded food and drink options for players and enhanced tables with USB access for each seat.

Golden Nugget’s $1-$2 Uncapped Games
The Golden Nugget is known for its more affordable games and big action for recreational players. The famous $1-$2 uncapped no-limit hold’em games run at all times, with around two tables during the week and up to five on the weekends. Players can find games listed on Poker Atlas.
Most poker rooms in Vegas offer $1-$3 games as the lowest buy in, making the Nugget’s $1-$2 game unique. The uncapped nature of the games allow for players to buy in at any amount. This often leads to massive stacks that create games that play larger than a typical $1-$2 table. Players are often hundreds of big blinds deep. They play more akin to some of the ultra-deep streamed and televised cash games than a typical Vegas low-stakes game.
But the low blinds in the game also allow for players wanting to play smaller stakes to buy in for a smaller amount, as little as $100.
Most players reports that the uncapped games at the Nugget are wild and a lot of fun if you are looking for some more casual poker. One Reddit user from several years ago described it as “the best $1-$2 experience I’ve ever had.”
Just about everybody at my table had stacks of 500$+, there were one or two stacks of 1k+. At one point this whale sat down with a rack full of $100 and $25 chips wearing gold chains and raising to $50 pre every pot, He lasted about 2 hours before he must have gotten bored.
Tournament-wise, “The Grand Poker Series” just ran from June 3-28, the premier tournament series of the year at the Nugget. This series has reduced in size and length in recent years. It used to run just as long as the World Series of Poker. Grand Poker Series
Vegas Poker Rooms in Flux
Many poker rooms in Vegas have undergone changes in recent years as the landscape continues to evolve in the poker capital of the world. The Golden Nugget remains one of the best options for low-cost poker in Vegas, compared to more upscale, expensive options like the Wynn or the Aria.
Vegas is still the premier city to play live poker, with countless options, even though some poker rooms have recently closed, including Planet Hollywood’s earlier this year.
Others, like Caesar’s Palace, have revamped their rooms to continue providing poker to patrons.
The trend, as covered by PokerScout here, has been consolidation. Nevada’s total number of poker rooms has dwindled in the past decade-plus, but the rooms that remain are setting revenue records. Demand seems to stay pretty constant, so the rooms that don’t close have an ever-growing pool of players and games.
Golden Nugget’s position as the only option in downtown Las Vegas gives it a unique advantage. Since the room continues to run its summer series, and the property relocated its room, it looks committed to maintaining that niche position in the ultra-competitive market.
