Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino held a grand opening on Monday, rebranding from the old Harvey’s. The renovation included enhancements to the resort’s pool, meeting, and convention space, and additional bar and lounge spaces. Overall, the transformation cost $200 million.
The goal is to bring a new luxury feel to the resort while preserving the resort’s rustic spirit, inspired by the beautiful Lake Tahoe on the Nevada/California border. The appeal of the lake is one of the main draws for people visiting a casino on Lake Tahoe, and now Caesar’s Republic is looking to stand out on the amenities front.
Rebrand With Same Ownership
The casino had been known as Harvey’s for 82 years, but it was time to try something fresh, according to higher-ups within Caesars. Katie Hall, the general manager of Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe, told 2 News Nevada:
Not new ownership, rebrand and a reimagining of everything we’re doing here in Tahoe. Harvey’s was a fantastic asset, 82 years of amazing history, and we just felt like it was time to try something new, to market something fresh, something lively, while still honoring the heritage. But really, just leaning into something entirely new.
Poker at Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe
The rebranded casino will remain one of the top places to play poker in the Lake Tahoe area with 16 tables. It is one of nine casinos around Lake Tahoe that offer table games and has the second most tables. Most of the casinos in the area only have a few tables, which makes Caesars one of the top two options for poker near Lake Tahoe. Only Peppermill Casino has more tables, with 19.
The venue has also held a World Series of Poker Circuit event for several years, usually hosting two per year, one in spring and one in autumn. The next one is scheduled for Oct. 22 to Nov. 2 later this year. The last event was April 16-27 this year, where 18 circuit rings were awarded.
Likely due to its lack of proximity to major metro areas, it is typically one of the smallest events on the WSOP Circuit calendar. The last main event drew only 463 entries.
