WSOP.ca traffic overview
Because GGPoker has such a large pool of active players, you can generally find the action you are looking for when you login to WSOP. This is particularly true for Texas Hold’em players, although there are certainly a lot of Omaha and stud players active during peak weekend hours. This alone helps set WSOP apart from some of its competitors.
Online poker gained in popularity as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and WSOP tourneys are among the most active in terms of poker traffic. This leads to large prize pools for skilled players willing to grind. Tournaments happen every day, with the largest every Saturday. Sit and go’s are also readily available and fill quickly at lower stakes. Even higher-stakes SNGs tend to fill after only a short wait.
The games available at WSOP are fairly standard. You are not going to find many variants that are too “out there,” like Crazy Pineapple or Chicago. The good news is that Texas Hold’em tables are plentiful, and that is the most popular poker game in the world.
Stakes vary from very small to large, but you will have an easier time getting action at the small- to medium-level stakes. Omaha players will also find action at WSOP, with some of the most-visited Omaha tables of any online poker site.
WSOP online offers some “on-table” features that you might be familiar with when playing at GGPoker. This includes the ability to run the river up to three times, using “splash” items, squeezing your cards, and rabbit hunting. You can also compete with other players for bragging rights by monitoring the daily leaderboards for hold’em and Omaha cash games.
Here is a breakdown of the cash games at WSOP:
- Hold’em: These games offer a wide range of stakes, from $0.01/$0.02 all the way up to $5/$10. The rake is among the lowest we have found, capping out at just 5% of the pot. You can play at a six or nine person-max table.
- Omaha: WSOP is a good destination for Omaha, thanks to large player pools. Stakes range from $0.01/$0.02 to $5/$10, although it’s difficult to find a full table at the highest stakes level. The rake for PLO is also very low compared to some of WSOP’s competitors, maxing out at 3%.
- Seven card stud: Stud is also available, though it is certainly less popular than the above two options. Still, you should be able to find decent action, especially during peak weekend hours. Stakes range from $0.05/$0.10 to $0.10/$0.20 for Seven Card Stud High and from $0.05/$0.10 to $10/$20 for Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo.
WSOP.ca multi-table tournaments
Tournament players will find a lot to like at WSOP, considering its large player pool means the potential for big prizes. You will find a lot of nice daily tournaments on weekdays, but the weekends are when the really big ones happen. This includes a $100K guaranteed tournament every Sunday.
WSOP also offers multi-table tournament bubble protection, meaning less of a worry that you’ll bust out right before the money.
You can also win World Series of Poker championships when playing at WSOP. The poker site offers a range of online circuit ring tournaments where you can compete for championship rings and bracelets in dozens of categories.
There’s also the chance to win an entry to the World Series of Poker main event, happening every year in Las Vegas.
Other poker offerings on WSOP Canada
WSOP offers more than simply traditional cash poker games and tournaments. There also are options for players who want something a little different. Here are some of the main ones:
Sit and go tournaments
These are single-table tournaments that go much faster than the large MTTs. Simply buy in to a six- or nine-person tourney, and once the table is full, the tournament starts. The last player standing wins. If you are really short on time, WSOP offers turbo sit and go’s, where the blinds go up blazingly fast. Buy-ins are anywhere from $1 to $50.
Blast tournaments are four-person super turbo sit and go tournaments. WSOP poker online randomly determines the prize pool before the event begins, and it’s not necessarily tied to the buy-in amount. The prize is a multiple of the funds collected, and can vary from 2x to 10,000x. The one catch is the ticking clock. Once the timer ends, all players go all-in every hand until someone wins.
WSOP offers a freeroll every month for current and retired law enforcement, firefighters and military personnel. The freeroll prize is $1,000, and you can verify your service with WSOP to become eligible.
Making a deposit
WSOP Canada offers a variety of options for adding money to your account:
- ACH transfer
Deposits are fast, with the money only taking a few minutes max to arrive in your account. WSOP also doesn’t impose any transaction fees, though the payment method you use might.
Making a withdrawal
Although there are a good number of deposit options to fund your account, withdrawing money gets a little trickier. Here are your choices:
- ACH Transfer
- Check by mail
As you can see, the options are sparse, but at least withdrawals are relatively rapid. You can expect a delay of two to three business days while WSOP verifies the transaction, but this is standard in online gambling. You will receive your payment promptly once WSOP has confirmed the withdrawal.
Support at WSOP Canada is fairly good, although we wish that there were some additional ways to get help. However, the help/FAQ section on the website is comprehensive and an excellent resource for any questions you might have. If you need more specific assistance, you can send an email to the dedicated customer support address, and you will get a response within a day or so.
During normal business hours, you can also try the customer support hotline, although we did run into some long wait times when we tried. Lastly, you can receive prompt responses on social media, so WSOP’s Twitter or Facebook account might be a good resource to get assistance, as well. The main choice that WSOP is lacking is that it doesn’t have an online live chat option at the moment.
