Sad news broke in the poker world on Monday as Texas poker regular Andrew “Yaya” Esposito passed away.

His friend and fellow Texas poker pro Cedrric Trevino posted the news on X with some photos of Esposito at the table in remembrance.

The announcement didn’t include any details about his passing.

The San Antonio native had over $900,000 in career earnings. Almost half of that came from a single deep run in the 2023 Wynn Millions Championship, where he finished runner-up for $480,752. His first recorded result was a singular cash in 2011, but he began cashing more regularly beginning in 2022.

Many of his results come from poker clubs in Texas from San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and more. He was a well-known figure in the Texas poker community and several who knew him expressed shock at his passing. Many offered their condolences to Trevino on the post that broke the news. He will undoubtedly be missed in the poker community and remembered by those who knew him closest.

Outside of poker, Esposito obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in Geology in 2009. He worked as a geologist, environmental analyst and specialist throughout the 2010s and as recently as 2023.
