There is a new poker room in California, as Red Hawk Casino Resort announced it will hold a grand opening for the new room on March 24th. The casino in Placerville, Calif., will feature the newest poker room in the Golden State when it debuts.

The room will have seven tables, which already have a variety of cash game promos set up. The room lists all the amenities that most poker rooms have, with the exception of no massage service for players.

Adds to Strong Sacramento Area Poker Scene

The Placerville location is about 45 minutes away from Sacramento. The state capital region is already a fairly strong poker market, and the new Red Hawk Casino poker room will be jumping in. The new room will be the seventh in the region and the seven new tables will make for a total of 72 poker tables in the Sacramento area.

The most prominent competition for Red Hawk will be Thunder Valley Casino and Stones Gambling Hall. Thunder Valley is a prominent spot for poker and hosts multiple WSOP Circuit events annually, including the most recent one in January.

Stones Gambling Hall made a name for itself in the poker world after the infamous Mike Postle scandal in 2019, which whistleblower Veronica Brill recapped in a YouTube series.

Stones remains the best place to play cash games in Sacramento according to several users on Reddit:

Yes Stones is definitely the nicest of the rooms. It generally runs 1-2 with 300 cap and 1-3 with 500 cap which I believe is also match the stack. The 1-2 games vary greatly but you can usually find a pretty soft one if you table hop a bit.

Stones and Thunder Valley are only about 15-20 minutes apart near Lincoln. The two casinos are nearly an hour away from Red Hawk, so Red Hawk will be servicing a different region of players who do not wish to make a long trek to play poker.
