CoinPoker has unveiled its most ambitious poker tournament yet. Dubbed “The One,” it promises $5 million guaranteed at just a $250 buy-in, with the title a reference to an expected $1 million first-place prize.
Twenty-six starting flights will qualify players for the Day 2 that takes place on Oct. 12.
Getting the necessary 20,000 entries will be a challenge, but CoinPoker has prepared with a voluminous qualifying schedule. Players can earn tickets through satellite, freerolls, steps, and other promotions.
Qualification paths for The One begin Sept. 28, right at the conclusion of the Global Online Poker Championship.
Oct. 4 marks the beginning of the Day 1 calendar. Starting that day, three flights per day will give players a chance to “bag” for Oct. 12. Here’s the daily schedule through Oct. 11:
- 1:30 p.m. UTC (9:30 a.m. ET)
- 4:30 p.m. UTC (12:30 p.m. ET)
- 7:30 p.m. UTC (3:30 p.m. ET)
Two turbo flights will take place on Oct. 12.
According to CoinPoker’s promotional page, The One will run annually, making this year’s edition the first of many.
Promos Announced for The One
In conjunction with the special tournament, CoinPoker will run multiple promos aimed at qualifying players and boosting participation.
For one thing, every player who qualifies for Day 2 — including those who do so multiple times — will receive $250 “buy back” refunds. These are credited as cash toward the player’s account.
Furthermore, the three players who fire the most entries into each Day 1 trifecta of flights get a free ticket to a subsequent flight.
Finally, the September CoinPoker Discord Hero — as voted on by the community — will receive a free entry.
