Online casino operators in New Jersey released their revenue numbers from April and just like in the record-setting March, the numbers were outstanding.
According to the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement, April’s revenue totaled $235.2 million, which is a 25.2% increase from April 2024. In fact, each month in 2025 has sustained an increase from the previous year. Online casinos in New Jersey continue to boom, which is a good sign for online poker in NJ, which is also flourishing.
This double-digit growth in internet casino revenue is in stark contrast to the live casinos in Atlantic City, the state’s gambling epicenter. The live casinos have had a slight dip in revenue, with a 2% reduction compared to 2024.
These dips in live casino revenue are worrisome for the classic Atlantic City casinos, which wish to attract guests. For example, the Borgata wants to continue holding big poker series, like the Borgata Poker Open.
Only three of the nine Atlantic City casinos posted year-to-year revenue gains. Total table game gains were down 16% overall. Bally’s, Caesar’s, and the Golden Nugget all have seen revenue dip as much as 11% in the first four months of 2025 vs the first four months of 2024.
NJ, a state with legal sports betting in the US, has also surged with operators like DraftKings and FanDuel reporting gains in revenue while battling each other for the sports betting market space.
Time will tell if the online casino market will continue to outperform the in-person casino experience in New Jersey and if even wider gaps will emerge in the coming months to years.
