Poker is not returning to North Las Vegas, as the old Poker Palace quietly reopened as Club Fortune Casino North without its formerly eponymous card game.

After shuttering its doors a year ago in August 2025, the interior of the casino underwent reconstruction to prepare for a new era. It was initially set to reopen in April before being pushed back to June. Now, it finally opened in mid-July.

Reno-based Truckee Gaming now owns the casino, which confirmed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal in February that the revamp was underway. Truckee Gaming bought the shuttered casino for $20 million in October 2025. It added Poker Palace to a portfolio that already includes casinos in Northern Nevada and Henderson. This is their first casino in North Las Vegas.

The new place features slots, video poker, video 6:5 blackjack and a “Boomer’s Sportsbook.”

Poker Does Not Return to Poker Palace

The old-school Poker Palace casino was an establishment in North Las Vegas dating to 1974. It was beloved by the local Vegas residents, especially elderly patrons who visited the casino for decades.

Located at the far north of the city near Nellis Air Force Base, it was the only casino in North Las Vegas that offered poker. The other poker rooms in Sin City are mostly concentrated on the Strip and downtown. Some other properties, like Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock, also have consistent poker action.

Poker Palace was known for low-stakes tournaments every Friday and Saturday night, largely played by locals. Many locals attempted to keep Poker Palace open before its closing. Some circulated a petition to “save poker at Poker Palace and keep our local poker community alive.”

The new name of the property, Club Fortune Casino North, may take some getting used to as a more clunky and less personal-feeling brand. Although the new owners removed poker from the name, expectations remained that they’d keep the room alive.

According to every report of the reopening when it was first announced, the poker room remained a priority for Truckee Gaming. They said they wished to keep the poker heritage going. The reconstruction included a “revitalization” of the poker room.

However, something happened in the few months following that talk. The news of a poker room faded during construction, and the current casino does not have one.
