Poker power couple Liv Boeree and Igor Kurganov tied the knot at Burning Man over the weekend, cementing a relationship that has already lasted more than a decade.
Boeree shared the news on her X account, where she shared photos of herself and Kurganov in costume trying the knot with the Nevada desert as the backdrop.
Many people from the poker world gave the couple their congratulations following the announcement.

At The Poker Table
The two well-known poker players have been in a relationship since at least 2014 and have a long history in the community.
The 37-year-old Russian-born Kurganov has almost $19 million in career earnings, according to the Card Player archives. He has four seven-figure cashes, all coming within the 2013-2017 timeframe when he was most active as a player.
In recent years, he has played less poker with only a handful of cashes after 2020.
Likewise, Boeree also used to be a more active player in the 2010s, with fewer results in recent years.
But the British pro has had a recent revival. In December 2024, she achieved the largest cash in poker history for a woman by winning $2.8 million for a fourth-place finish in the World Series of Poker Paradise Super Main Event. Leo Margets threatened that mark in the 2025 WSOP Main Event, but ultimately, Boeree’s record would stand.
Now 41, Boeree ranks among the leading female money winners of all-time.
They are both bracelet winners after teaming up to win the 2017 WSOP $10,000 Tag Team Championship.
Endeavors Away From Poker
Both Boeree and Kurganov have focused more efforts away from poker since 2020. They lived together in London for a while but now reside in Austin, Texas.
Kurganov has worked with Elon Musk in the past. He spends time as an angel investor and advocate for charities.
He and Boeree co-founded “Raising for Effective Giving” which encourages poker players to give to charity. REG’s website now says it’s no longer active, though it boasts $14 million in “money influenced.”
Boeree has a substantial social media following with more than 250,000 on X. She uses her platform to advocate for several causes. She donated a portion of her WSOP Paradise winnings to groups fighting factory farming. Her “Win-Win Podcast” discusses topics related to philosophy, science, and technology.
The couple have been advocates of the Burning Man Project for many years. Boeree has often posted reflections on her time at Burning Man. It’s fitting that the two tied the knot during this year’s event.
Other Poker Power Couples
Boeree and Kurganov have left indelible marks in poker as one of the most prominent power couples. Despite their lessened presence these days, they still rank among the most successful duos in the game.
As for other pairs making their marks, the Foxens come to mind as natural successors. Alex and Kristen Foxen have authored many big wins in recent years. They pulled off a U.S. Poker Open double earlier this year. Both players have put up enough results this year to rank among the top 50 in Card Player’s Player of the Year rankings.
Cherish Andrews and Brock Wilson both rank around the top 100 in the Card Player points race. Wilson boasts more than $12 million in career earnings according to the Card Player archives, while Andrews is no slouch with north of $4 million.
Loni Harwood Hui and Phil Hui got married in 2020 and count more than a decade as a couple. Phil won the prestigious 2019 WSOP $50K Poker Players Championship. Loni has been one of the most successful women in WSOP history with two bracelets and five WSOP Circuit rings.
Phil Laak and actress Jennifer Tilly also remain active in the scene, the latter more so in streamed and televised high-stakes cash games. Laak still regularly makes final tables in the L.A. area, winning Mega Millions XXVII last year for $380,050.
