Thai high roller Punnat Punsri continued his successful 2025 year by winning his fifth career Triton High Roller event over the weekend. In doing so, he’s closing in on Jesse Lonis for the top spot in Card Player’s Player of the Year (POY) leaderboard.
Punsri won Event #6: $50,000 NLH 7-Handed in Jeju, South Korea, for $1,697,000, in a field of 146 entries. It’s his third tournament win of 2025.
The Thai national hero now has more than $29 million in career earnings, with almost $9 million of that coming this calendar year, according to the Card Player results archives. He has achieved three seven-figure results this year after this most recent win.
He entered the final table second in chips but quickly took command, becoming the large chip leader heading into heads-up play against Brandon Wilson. There, he was able to close out the victory.

Punsri is now solidly in second place on the Card Player POY race with four titles and 16 final tables.
He is starting to put some heat on Lonis. Lonis once looked unreachable and almost a shoe-in for POY after his white hot start the to the year. But now, Punsri trails Lonis by only about 300 points. He is almost 600 points ahead of third place Alex Foxen.

Wang Wins Away From Cash Games
Among the other notable results so far in the Jeju Triton series was Peter Wang winning Event #5: $60,000 NLH for over $2 million. He bested the same amount of entries as Punsri did in his win, 146. The high-rolling cash game regular from China often plays on Hustler Casino Live in Los Angeles.
He has had several notable moments this year on cash game streams. These include hero calling vs Alan Keating to win a $2 million pot and out-flushing Nik Airball on High Stakes Poker Season 14 in early May.
Elsewhere, Card Player POY No. 11, Jun Obara of Japan, won the Mystery Bounty event.
Triton Poker co-founder Richard Yong was also a part of the winner’s circle. He won his third career Triton title in his favorite form of poker, Short Deck.
