The new version of the Quapaw Casino in Miami, Oklahoma, cut the ribbon over the weekend for the grand opening. The new facility is located just west of the old one and features upgraded amenities across the board. The Northeast Oklahoma casino has been in operation for 25 years and is now moving to a modern facility.
Business Committee Chairwoman Weena Supernaw told local news KZRG that it was important for the Quapaq nation to enter the modern era with an upgraded modern facility that was no longer the “broom closet” that the old casino was:
We have, in the Quapaw Nation, a particular standard that we want to uphold with any of our gaming facilities, and I’m just so proud of the fact that Quapaw Casino is now up to those standards. It’s been a long time coming. And as a result, that’s why we’re so happy for both the employees as well as the patrons.
The new casino features more than 450 gaming machines and a dining room with a craft brewery.
The upgrade looks to stay relevant in the large Oklahoma casino landscape that is only set to become more competitive with Caesars entering the Sooner State market in April.
Is There Poker at the New Quapaw Casino?
The new quapaw casino website boasts the amount of casino slots available. It also features the most recent big slots winner at the casino, which was “Carol” who won $20,816. But there is no mention of poker at the Quapaw Casino.
The Quapaw Casino is also not listed among the 10 poker rooms in Oklahoma.
What is the Best Poker Room in Oklahoma?
Most opinions on the best poker rooms in Oklahoma point to Choctaw. Choctaw is the largest and most accessible card room from northern Texas and the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. But the proliferation of card houses in Texas in recent years has hurt the popularity of Oklahoma poker rooms, with more Texans simply staying in their home state to play.
Others say that Winstar, Hard Rock Tulsa and Riverwind all have solid poker rooms.
