The poker room at Resorts World (RW) Las Vegas is closing at the end of March.
According to Chris Murray on X, a regular game runner at the room, it will continue to run through at least March 29, but it is shutting down for good. Small crowds and an out-of-the-way location meant the room often struggled to fill seats.
There had been rumors of its closure for months. Local insider Vital Vegas first sounded the alarm last November. At the time, PokerScout attempted to confirm the rumors, but an email to the property’s media team went unanswered.
Most notably, Resorts World played host to PokerStars’ North American Poker Tour Las Vegas for the past few years. PokerStars has not announced anything about NAPT for 2026. In theory, the venue could still host the poker festival in one of its ballrooms even if the commercial poker room closes.

Despite Low Traffic, Resorts World Poker Room Generally Viewed Positively
Off the beaten path on the northern part of the Vegas Strip, the RW poker room often got good reviews from players for its well-run games and nice ambiance. Several player reactions to the room closure noted how much they enjoyed playing there. The room was often cited as being clean, comfortable and peaceful compared to the hubbub of the more busy parts of the Strip.
The RW poker room was known for mixed games. Offering a variety of unique games at various stakes. For at least a time, it regularly hosted some of the highest-limit public mixed games in the city.
A Reddit thread from a couple of years ago discusses the mixed games available to play at RW. One comment noted how RW regulars tended to like to play variants of drawmaha:
One thing that occurred to me…the mixed group at Resorts World is really into drawmaha variants. I would at least read up on how drawmaha is played, and extrapolate those concepts to other variants (drawmadugi, drawmaha 2-7, drawmaha 49)
Despite all of the positive comments about the room, one of the consistent mentions was that the room was very low-traffic. Certain hours did not have any tables open, and many of the games had few players.
The secluded location on the far north end of the strip prevented the room from getting much foot traffic from patrons passing through the casino and stumbling upon the poker room.
The room will continue to operate for another couple of weeks before shuttering, allowing RW regulars to enjoy the action at the location for the last time.
Collusion Cheating Accusations Plagued Resorts World
The RW poker room was not without controversy during its time. There was an alleged cheating scandal that poker player Mike Holtz discussed in March of 2025. Holtz alleged that RW players were colluding without repercussions. He said that the staff at RW did little to investigate or bust the potential cheating.
The allegations started a larger discussion about players being diligent while playing to avoid being victim to cheating.
Another Vegas Poker Room Closure
Resorts World is not the first poker room to close in Vegas in 2026. The Planet Hollywood poker room closed its doors at the end of January, just one year after reopening.
In recent years, a few other Vegas poker rooms have closed, including Sahara, Flamingo, Excalibur, Mirage, and the Rio.
However, the trend isn’t all-encompassing. Other properties, such as Green Valley Ranch and Caesars Palace, have displayed a renewed commitment to their poker rooms.
