U.S. Rep. Dina Titus is still fighting for a fair gambling tax, saying “Republican leadership” continues to block her efforts to pass a repeal of an unpopular new policy. She stated her case on X on Monday:

I’m still fighting for this fair tax policy. I submitted another amendment to the funding bill this week to restore the gambling loss tax deduction to 100%.

Republican leadership, however, refused to make my amendment in order and hold a vote on this commonsense fix.

Rep. Titus has been fighting to restore the gambling loss tax deduction to 100% after the Big Beautiful Bill capped it at 90%. Even though her FAIR BET act was rejected in late 2025, she has not stopped trying to submit amendments.

There appeared to be momentum in favor of the gambling tax repeal when the 75-year-old Nevada representative found bipartisan support from Republican Tom Cole of Oklahoma. Oklahoma, like Nevada, has an interest in keeping the gaming industry healthy due to its tribal casino properties.

Titus Blames Republican Leadership

Despite Cole’s support from across the aisle, the failure of another amendment appears to fall on the rest of the Republican leadership. The amendments were blocked by House leadership as part of the major spending bill, House Resolution 7148.

President Donald Trump signed the bill into law this week, leaving the gambling tax untouched once again. Any immediate fix now must come from new Senate action. It can also come from future legislation.

One example of other legislation was the FULL HOUSE Act introduced by Nevada Democratic U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford. That had bipartisan support also, with Ohio Republican Max Miller on board.

Some questioned why this effort from Titus has not received more support from other avenues, including big gambling companies.

How come we can’t get any real players behind this? People with the juice. The whole thing makes no sense.
