Doug Polk has gone back for more against Bill Perkins. He will attempt another fitness-based prop bet against the hedge fund manager and high-stakes poker player. Once again, Polk will be looking to get in shape and win big money in the process.
Polk lost $200,000 in a prop bet against Perkins in 2023 and will attempt to get that money back with a fresh bet for 2025. The bets are almost the same as Polk will try to reduce his body fat by 50% by October 6, 2025, less than six months from the start of the bet. He narrowly failed to achieve the 50% body fat reduction in 2023 when he had an entire year to achieve it.
Polk’s body fat is currently 22%, and he must reduce it to 11% within the next six months, or he will lose another $200,000.
Perkins enjoys making prop bets against poker players and often does so to challenge them to get into shape as well. He has made similar bets in the past with Shaun Deeb, with Deeb raking in an $800,000 buyout after agreeing to a $1 million prop bet.
With sports betting becoming more legal in the USA, poker players have plenty of avenues to bet, though prop bets in general are a little different. They can be a fun way for poker players to challenge themselves in some way while having some serious money on the line as motivation.
2025 has been an eventful year for Polk so far as he has diversified his ownership of The Lodge. He also recently failed his ClubWPT Code Doug Challenge where he attempted to make a $100,000 profit in a month playing online poker. He will be looking to offset that loss with a victory in this prop bet.
