Doug Polk likes to push the envelope and take on challenges, even if that means stepping out of his comfort zone. He is constantly finding a new challenge, whether outside of poker through a weight loss prop bet, or within poker, with a $100K bankroll challenge.

The most recent such example is completely different, as Polk looks to enter the world of stand-up comedy. The Lodge poker club co-owner will appear on an episode of the YouTube show Kill Tony, where people attempt stand-up comedy for one minute and then receive feedback from the host, Tony Hinchcliffe, and other comedians.

The story of how Polk got involved in this endeavor is from another episode of “Kill Tony,” in which Polk is described as “the best heads-up poker player in the world.”

“I’m good at poker, I’ll play you (Polk) heads-up.”

“There we were, at Mitzi’s after an episode, playing heads-up poker. Me versus the best in the world. Twenty minutes later, guess who won $20,000.”

But Polk ended up coming out as the overall winner as Hinchcliffe could not resist going for more.

“Since it had only been 20 minutes, I said, ‘I’ll tell you what, even though I won, let’s double or nothing—$40,000 versus a minute of stand-up comedy.’ So I won $20,000, doubled the bet to $40,000, and any day now, he’s going to be popping in on the show.”

Thanks to winning this bet, Polk will now get his chance at a minute of stand up comedy on Kill Tony where all will see if his stand-up comedy skills are as strong as his ability at knowing how to play poker.
