GGPoker’s WSOP Online Series Begins Aug. 17, Featuring Over $60M In Guarantees

The World Series of Poker is going online once again at GGPoker, with more bracelets up for grabs barely a month after the end of the traditional summer series in Las Vegas. GGPoker has unveiled the schedule for the upcoming WSOP Online series, which features more than $60 million in guarantees across its 33-event schedule.

WSOP Online will run Aug. 17 through Sep. 30.

On top of the event prize pools, GGPoker has laid out plans to give away an additional $5 million through promotions.

Biggest And Best WSOP Online Bracelet Events

All of the WSOP Online events will undoubtedly draw plenty of entries and produce robust prize pools. However, GGPoker has concentrated the guarantees on just nine of them.

Naturally, the $5,000 Main Event has the biggest guarantee, at $25 million. The other eight guarantees range between $1 million and $10 million.

• Event #33: $10,300 GGMillion$ High Rollers—$10 million

Other marquee events without a guarantee include the $1,500 Monster Stack, $5,000 6-Handed Championship, $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship, and $10,000 Heads-Up Championship. Expect these to produce some of the biggest prize pools and most intense action of the series, even without guarantees attached.

Lower-stakes players have plenty of options as well. There are 15 events—nearly half the schedule—offering a chance to win a bracelet for less than $1,000.

$5 Million in Promotions

GGPoker will distribute its $5 million in promotional funds across three separate promos.

The biggest chunk—$3 million—will be distributed via Continental Flipouts following each tournament. For those not familiar, the flipouts are essentially lotteries, with each player forced all-in every hand until the “tournament” ends.

There’s an interesting geographical component to the flipouts. To win an entry to the freeroll, a player must have participated in the previous day’s event and be from the same continent as the current day’s winner. GGPoker will register the qualified players automatically.

GGPoker’s idea of “continents” doesn’t quite line up with the standard grouping. For purposes of this promotion, it groups players into four pseudo-continents: Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Eurasia. Confusingly, African countries fall under “Eurasia.” There’s list on the GGPoker website clarifying which countries are in which region.

Another $1 million or so will be distributed to the bracelet winners, in the form of $30,000 WSOP Super Pass Packages. These packages will send the bracelet winners to WSOP Paradise this December in the Bahamas. They include the $25,000 Main Event buy-in, plus $5,000 for travel and accomodation.

The final $1 million will be divided between 10 freerolls, taking place on Oct. 4. Once again, there’s a geographical component. Each freeroll will be open only to players from a country in the Top 10 of GGPoker’s rankings for the series. The prize pool for each freeroll will depend on the country’s placement, from $200,000 for the top country to $30,000 for 10th place.

The GGPoker promotional graphic suggests that the calculation for the rankings will consider first-, second-, and third-place finishes, plus total winnings. However, it doesn’t specify what the formula will be.

All events begin at 6 p.m. UTC, with one exception. Event #21 will begin one hour earlier than the others, at 5 p.m. All events are No-Limit Hold’em unless otherwise noted.

Note that all of the guaranteed events (in caps below) are listed with their Day 2 start times. Most or all will feature multiple Day 1 flights qualifying players to the listed day/time. Players should consult the GGPoker client for Day 1 schedules.
