CoinPoker’s fifth CoinMillion drew the biggest field in the history of the event, part of a well-attended weekend of the Global Online Poker Championship (GOPC).
The Sept. 13 CoinMillion drew 5,321 entries. At $215 apiece, that created a prize pool of $1.06 million, with $123,979 earmarked for the winner. That player turned out to be ‘FINALVERDICT7,‘ an account that CoinPoker revealed had cashed for less than $1,000 prior to the monster win.
Two more CoinMillions remain as part of the ongoing GOPC schedule. Each will run the coming two Sundays before closing out on Day 2 on the subsequent Mondays. Only a handful of players make Day 2 — 15 during this past rendition of the CoinMillion.
GOPC Still Going Strong
The GOPC continues to truck along. Its most recent $14 million week has allowed the festival to surpass $44 million in prize money paid out, putting it on track to easy soar past the $50 million guaranteed.
About two weeks remain in the series, which ends Sept. 28.
While most of the tournaments beat their guarantees, CoinPoker announced that 50 tournaments overlaid last week, so players can still find some added value in certain spots.
Two $5,200 high roller events took place last week, one each in pot-limit Omaha and no-limit hold’em. Mario Mosbock scooped the NLHE edition for $87,780, while ‘BevyOfBank’ grabbed gold in the PLO one for $72,440.
Another big winner was ‘Drtonipe,’ who won four separate events. All were smaller-stakes ones between $15 and $88.
