New Dates Announced for EPT Prague; PokerStars Launches EPT Online With $17 Million Guaranteed

After the recent postponement of the European Poker Tour Prague, PokerStars announced new dates for the series on Monday. The site also unveiled the return of the EPT Online series for Dec. 8-19, with $17 million guaranteed.

The news of the EPT Prague comes as live poker slowly returns internationally. The series is now set for March 5-16 at the Hilton Hotel Prague.

“With player and staff comfort and health a top priority, PokerStars had previously made the decision to postpone EPT Prague 2021 due to the ongoing situation in the Czech Republic and in accordance with local government guidance,” Stars officials noted in a news release.

“After much consideration, the decision has now been made to move the much-loved EPT stop to March, where PokerStars hopes to run a safe and enjoyable event for the PokerStars community.”

EPT Online returns to PokerStars

Following the Prague postponement, PokerStars has worked hard to provide players with some online EPT action. Buy-ins for the series start at just $5.50 and players from around the world can compete.

The festival features 68 tournaments including some from the traditional live EPT series. Players will also find mini versions of numerous events with a complete mini schedule.

As seen in live events as well, 20 EPT trophies will be up for grabs. Some of the highlights from the series include:

  • $11 EPT Online Cup Mini – $150,000 guaranteed
  • $55 Mini Main Event – $1 million guaranteed
  • $5,200 Main Event – $1.5 million guaranteed
  • $1,050 Return of Arena Championship – $1 million guaranteed
  • $10,300 Sunday Super High Roller – $1 million guaranteed

EPT Online also benefits tournament staff

Because of the postponement of the live EPT Prague, PokerStars hopes to help out staff missing work opportunities. The company has committed $100,000 from the series to all the live event staff impacted by the postponement.

“We know that there is a huge demand from the PokerStars community to see our live events return in full and we are excitedly working toward that,” PokerStars managing director and commercial officer Severin Rasset said, “but we must be flexible along the way to ensure our players stay safe and healthy, and the experience is an unforgettable one for all the right reasons.

“I am pleased that we have been able to adapt so quickly to the ever-changing situation and provide our players with new dates for EPT Prague already, as well as some EPT online fun and value in the meantime. A big thanks to our partners at Kings Casino and Hilton Prague for working with us to ensure we found an alternative solution for the event.”
