Las Vegas is synonymous with the gambling industry, and host to many of the most important annual events in live poker.
Most notable, of course, is the World Series of Poker, held each summer in Vegas since 1979. In the modern era, the WSOP has expanded from a single game to a 100+ event series, taking over an entire casino — currently the Horseshoe — for two months of the year.
Even outside the WSOP, there is almost always some kind of special tournament event happening in Sin City, plus cash game play at destination poker rooms like the Wynn, Venetian, Aria, Resorts World, and others.
And yet, Nevada still has only one online poker option: the Caesars-operated WSOP.com.
BetMGM Poker also has a license and could launch at any time, but it’s an open question when it will choose to do so.
