CoinPoker has set new attendance records with its World Poker Masters tournament series, which wrapped up on June 1st. The series lasted for a month and generated over $48 million in prize pools, almost doubling the combined $25 million in guarantees.
All told, the series drew 578,251 entries across 781 events.
Main Event Winner Takes Home $300,000
The crown jewel event of World Poker Masters was the World Poker Masters Main Event, which beat its $2.5 million guarantee by 9% to produce a prize pool of $2.73 million. After the field was whittled down from over 5,000 players, the user “dsfgdsgdsgd” took down the grand prize of $300,270.
That player finished as the second-highest money accumulator in the World Poker Masters trophy winner standings, falling behind only “amr1diab” who won $544,320 by finishing first in the $25,500 Super High Roller.
In total 59 players captured trophies and will be sent physical trophies as a prize to go with their monetary winnings.
One player, “TruthIsOutThere” won four different events to set the record for most victories in the series. Meanwhile, “PenthousePrinz” was the most prolific player, playing in just over half of all tournaments. They participated in a staggering 405 of the 781 events that the series offered.
CoinPoker Ambassadors Hype Up Series
Several of CoinPoker’s ambassadors hyped up the series and its success. Bencb was one of those as he highlighted the almost doubling of the guaranteed prizepool:
Patrick Leonard pointed out that the success of the series also comes in the face of the WSOP starting. With most online sites opting not to challenge the WSOP, CoinPoker’s numbers remained strong despite the competition from the WSOP.
The World Poker Masters series was timed to play right before the WSOP truly gets underway in June to whet the appetite for all poker players. The lead-in timing likely played a role in the large numbers that the event was able to attract.
