An Atlantic City man was sentenced to “more than seven years in prison” for a stabbing that occurred in a nightclub at Harrah’s in 2022. The stabbing occurred on Thanksgiving week in 2022 on Nov. 24, at the “Pool in Harrah’s.” It was part of a larger brawl that resulted in multiple injuries.

This sentencing has now settled the case, which has been ongoing for nearly three years.

Man Enters Guilty Plea

Dante Braxton, the assailant, stabbed another man in the elbow and abdomen before throwing a metal chair at him outside. Authorities in Atlantic City sought Braxton, Jamile Rivera, and Kamal Allen in connection to the incident, which left three people injured.

Braxton pleaded guilty to a second-degree aggravated assault and a third-degree weapons offense.

The metal detector at the casino went off when Braxton entered, but the security workers did not stop him or use a wand to take away the knife.

The initial case against Braxton was not considered a strong one, as the stabbing victim did not have a stab wound. Video footage of the incident showed Braxton “poking” the victim with the knife. Without a strong case, the judge ordered Braxton’s release in March 2023.

But the 27-year-old did not stay out of custody for long, as he was back at the Atlantic City Justice Facility just two months later on a heroin charge.

Braxton had a previously served prison sentence of five years from a 2017 weapons case, when he had a stolen gun in Colorado. He must now serve at least 85% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act.

The prosecutor’s office also sentenced the assailant to concurrent prison terms on unrelated charges after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, along with obstruction, and contempt of a drug offender restraining order.

Harrah’s Atlantic City is one of the most popular resorts in the area. It recently hosted the WSOP Circuit in August for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
