Daniel Negreanu believes the part of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB) that will adversely affect poker players will be repealed. He revealed his thoughts on the OBBB during a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) last week in which he discussed a multitude of topics.
One of the most notable answers he gave was his belief that the attempted reversals of gambling tax provisions in the OBBB will be successful.
“Daniel, do you think the ‘big beautiful bill act’ is going to ruin live tournaments (in America) with the 90% cap on loss deductions?” a user asked.
I think that part will get repealed. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s like 72% to get done since both sides of the aisle agree it’s really stupid and unfair, and I know for a fact the guy at the top thinks its stupid and unfair.
The chance Negreanu gave is considerably higher than those currently available in prediction markets though it’s important to note those reflect a possible 2025 action. His prediction could be accurate, as U.S. Rep. Dina Titus held a town hall last week to discuss the very issue. Negreanu also mentions that “the guy at the top,” which could be a reference to President Donald Trump.

No Game Of Gold Season 2
The 51-year old Canadian poker pro’s answer on the BBB was only one of many as he waded into a large variety of topics. One of which was “Game of Gold” Season 2 speculation, and fans of the show won’t like what he had to say.
Many poker fans have been wondering about a potential second running of the popular YouTube show produced by GGPoker in November 2023. But Negreanu, who was one of the first players eliminated in the show’s first season, put a damper on that speculation:
Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening, but who knows, that could change. I thought it was great stuff.
Online Poker’s Future
Another area of focus of the AMA was online poker. The question was about what the future looks like with the proliferation of bots and other issues. The GGPoker ambassador was positive about the future of online poker:
I think it will constantly have to evolve and grow in different ways. Lots of sharp cookies out there always looking for an edge, so you need to get creative on ways to keep the ecosystem healthy.
Role As Ambassador
One user asked Negreanu if his role as one of the most prominent poker ambassadors interferes with his ability to a profitable poker player. Negreanu gave a thoughtful answer to that question:
I don’t really, but its a fair question. It’s never been something I even questioned as far as my place in the community, balancing both playing, and promoting the game in whatever ways I can. I feel like I’ve done a good job balancing it to the point where the outside stuff doesn’t take too much away from my ability to play well.
