Satellites Begin at PokerStars for Irish Poker Open; Players Can Win A Seat, Tournament Packages

Poker players now have the chance to secure a seat or travel package for the Irish Poker Open via PokerStars with qualifiers now underway.

PokerStars announced a deal to sponsor the Irish Poker Open in November and is now launching online qualifiers as well. The live poker series is sponsored by PokerStars and Paddy Power, and returns to Dublin April 3-10 at The Royal Dublin Society.

Online poker players now have the chance to secure a seat or a travel package with expense money at PokerStars. Online satellites are currently running on both the PokerStars and Paddy Power platforms.

PokerStars Irish Poker Open online qualifying

Stars and Paddy Power are part of Flutter Entertainment and serve as the new official sponsors for the Irish series. Players will find at least 23 entries to the event guaranteed weekly as the Open approaches.

Every week Stars is running four direct satellites with buy-ins of €55 and €109. Players advancing in those move on to the €1,150 Main Event, which features a €1 million guarantee.

Competitors can get in the action starting at an even lower buy-in. Feeder satellite buy-ins begin with freebuys, so players can potentially win a seat for nothing. Those successful in those events advance to €1.10, €5.50, €11, and €16.50 satellites.

A player who then finishes in the top spots in those events earns either a €55 or €109 direct satellite seat.

A look at the satellite schedule

Players hoping for a trip to the Emerald Isle have numerous opportunities to secure a seat in the coming months. Here’s a look at the weekly schedule of direct satellites:

  • Monday – five seats guaranteed
  • Wednesday – five seats and expense packages guaranteed
  • Friday – five seats guaranteed
  • Sunday – eight seats and expense packages guaranteed

Additionally, PokerStars is also running a mega satellite event on March 19. This event offers 20 seats along with travel expenses.

About the Irish Poker Open & complete tournament schedule

Those heading to Ireland for the series will find one of Europe’s most-anticipated annual series. The festival features the longest-running No Limit Hold’em tournament outside Las Vegas, dating back more than 42 years.

In 1984, the tournament grew after a group of 25 American players played in the tournament at Killiney Castle. That included ‘84 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Tom McEvoy.

Others on the trip included Poker Hall of Fame members Stu Ungar, Chip Reese, and Doyle Brunson. The addition of these pros  in the Main Event helped draw television and press coverage in Ireland, adding to the series’ recognition and prestige.

In 2022, poker pro Steve O’Dwyer took the title after besting a field of 2,040 entries for the title and €318,700. O’Dwyer has lived in Dublin for the last 10 years and was pleased to win in his hometown. The Main Event saw a €2 million prize pool, twice the €1 million guarantee.

“Ireland is the home of Flutter and we are truly delighted to partner with the already well-loved Open,” PokerStars chief commercial officer Kevin Harrington said in a news release, “and work with our colleagues at Paddy Power and the Irish Poker Open to make this a very special event for all our players, not only for those in Ireland but for players from around the world.”

Players heading to this year’s series will find plenty of interesting events beyond the Main Event. Here’s a look at the complete schedule.

KNOCKOUT: KO Series Wraps Up at Partypoker; Online Qualifiers Begin For Irish Poker Open

The KO Series recently wrapped up at partypoker and online qualifiers have also begun for the Irish Poker Open.

The KO Series recently concluded at partypoker with “Joel Osteen” taking the $320 High Main Event for $66,149.

That event attracted 1,915 entries for a  $574,500 prize pool with “b_bernardinh0” finishing runner-up for a total payday of $41,366.

The win brought an end to the bounty-busting action last weekend. The series featured 53 events and produced some other big winners as well. Here’s a look at the series and some other news from partypoker.

More partypoker Main Event winners

The high buy-in Main Event wasn’t the only main event for players to check out during the series. The $33 Medium version also attracted 7,266 entries.

Of those, 1,054 returned for Day 2. In the end, “Snakeyes21” and “Roronoa_Zoro89” reached a deal in heads-up play. Roronoa_Zoro89 took the top spot as part of the agreement for $18,043 with Snakeyes21 as runner-up for $11,717.

In the final main event, “g4rm_HAHA” turned a $3.30 buy-in into a score of $1,833. That event brought in more than 5,800 entries.

Irish Poker Open qualifiers get underway

In other news, partypoker Live will partner to run the Irish Poker Open live for the first time since 2019. The series is set for April 11-18 at Citywest Hotel Dublin.

Partypoker hosted the series online in 2020 and 2021, but the popular European festival returns to the live felt this year. Those looking to qualify can head to the site for numerous qualifying opportunities.

The $1,050 Main Event runs April 13-18 with players able to secure a seat online in satellites starting at just one cent.

Centrolls award tickets to the €4.40 Phase 1 events. Those then moving on earn a seat in a €22 Phase 2 tournament. These players can then advance to a €109 final for a chance to win a Main Event seat.

GOING GREEN: Live Irish Poker Open Returns, Partypoker Qualifiers Get Underway

After a two-year hiatus, the Irish Poker Open returns to the live felt April 11-18 with qualifying opportunities available at partypoker.

After a two-year hiatus, the Irish Poker Open returns to the live felt April 11-18 at Citywest Hotel Dublin. Players will find  42 tournaments with buy-ins ranging from €100 to €5,000, including 14 championship events.

“We have always said how exciting it is to launch the Irish Poker Open each year, however, the launch of Irish Poker Open 2022 definitely feels a little extra special, given the particularly difficult times people have gone through over the last two years,” festival organizers Paul O’Reilly and JP McCann noted in a news release.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming all of our Irish and international players back to the Irish felt, whilst ensuring that player and staff safety remain at the forefront of our minds.

Partypoker will once again be offering online qualifying opportunities for those hoping to punch a ticket to Ireland.

What to expect from the series

Europe’s longest-running poker festival ran online at partypoker over the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the action is once again live and continues the momentum the live game has garnered in recent months.

The Irish Open is one of the more popular European poker series. Players have some major action to look forward to. Plenty of Irish-themed entertainment is also on the menu for players heading to Dublin.

The €1,150 Main Event kicks off on April 13 with four starting flights before the championship event concludes on April 18. The last Main Event ran in 2019 with 1,807 players producing a €1.8 million prize pool.

Several other big events are also on tap rhis year including two championship events kicking off the series. The $350 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max and  €350 Eight-Game Mix are both set for April 11.

The €250 Mini Irish Open also begins on April 17 for those seeking a main event championship at a bargain price. A $1,100 Mystery Bounty event begins on the same day and should bring some added fun to the series.

Qualifying online at partypoker

Partypoker played host to the Irish Open over the last two years. Brazil’s Pablo Silva won the 2020 online event with Pavel Veksler taking the title in 2021.

The series may be returning to the live felt, but party is once again offering players a chance to qualify online for a much lower price point. The first €109 Main Event satellite is set for Feb. 6 and guarantees at least 10 Main Event seats.

However players can earn a seat into the satellite in qualifiers starting at just €0.01. These events then feed into the €22 Phase 2 satellites, where players can win a €109 entry. Here’s a look at the complete Irish Poker Open schedule.

Entries Surge Into Day 1A of Partypoker Irish Open Online $1,100 Main Event

Poker players now have the chance to secure a seat or travel package for the Irish Poker Open via PokerStars with qualifiers now underway.

The Irish Open Online €1,100 Main Event is off to a huge start at partypoker. The tournament’s first starting flight has already attracted  more than 82% of the €1 million guarantee.

A total of 822 entered Day 1A on Sunday, bringing the accumulated prize pool so far to €822,000. Two starting flights remain with Day 1B on April 4 and Day 1C the following day.

“The size of the field in Day 1A of the 2021 Irish Open Online Main Event tells a very compelling story of how popular this festival really is,” partypoker head of poker room management Chris Donnachie said.

“When we ran the first ever Irish Open Online in April last year, Day 1A attracted 831 players during a period of severe lockdown restrictions. To be just nine players short of that target at a time when the social landscape is very different is a result we are extremely happy with.”

The entire series runs through April 7 and comes with a €3.1 million guarantee. Numerous nice events still remain on the schedule.

Players score with partypoker satellites

For the Main Event, partypoker offers players of all bankrolls an opportunity to participate. On Sunday, 116 of those playing won entries through a mega satellite held earlier in the day.

The Irish Open Online 2021 runs March 26 to April 7 at partypoker with buy-ins ranging from €22 to €5,300 and €3.1 million guaranteed.

The site runs satellite events starting at just €0.01 with tickets won in each week’s Sunday finals. Players can go from the centrolls to the €1.10 buy-in Phase 1. From there, they advance to the €11 Phase 2, before progressing to the weekly final.

There is no direct buy-in to the final, so no player reaching that stage has to pay more than €11 to do so. Three more finals run this week ahead of Day 1B, with a total of 40 tickets for the Main Event.

Even more seats are up for grabs, including 100 tickets into another Day 1B mega satellite. Players can also buy into that event directly for €109. Here’s a look at the complete Irish Open Online series.

Action from partypoker Main Event Day 1A

After Day 1A, Belarus’ Artsiom Prostak led the field with a stack of 5.74 million chips. Overall, 123 players moved on to Day 2.

Team partypoker members also found some success. Isaac Haxton and Patrick Leonard finished in the top 10 with Louise Butler also qualifying for Day 2.

Isaac Haxton advanced to Day 2 in the Irish Open Online at partypoker.

“The Irish Open Online is my favorite festival of the year,” Butler said

“All Irish players dream of winning an Irish Open event and the satellite system at partypoker means that winning an event is a real possibility for players of all bankrolls.”

Another interesting name emerged to advance to Day 2. Four-time super middleweight boxing champion Carl Froch, also a Team partypoker player, moved on after Day 1A.

Day 2 is scheduled for April 5 following Day 1C earlier the same day. Day 3 plays out on April 6 with the final table on April 7.

This year’s series follows the success of the Irish Open Online 2020, which paid out €5.6 million. Brazil’s Pablo Brito Silva claimed the Main Event title, topping a field of 2,945 players to win €462,100. Silva was one of 22 champions who won events in the series.

Irish Open Online Heads Back to Partypoker With €3.1 million Guaranteed, €1 Million Main Event

The Irish Open Online 2021 runs March 26 to April 7 at partypoker with buy-ins ranging from €22 to €5,300 and €3.1 million guaranteed.

Major online poker series continue rolling out for partypoker. The Irish Poker Open is the latest live tournament to shift online and party is giving all players around the world the chance to compete.

The Irish Open Online 2021 runs March 26 to April 7 with buy-ins ranging from €22 to €5,300. That means something for players of all levels hoping for some luck of the Irish with €3.1 million guaranteed.

“We are extremely proud to again be given the opportunity to host such an iconic poker festival online at partypoker,” partypoker head of poker room management Chris Donnachie said in a news release. “The first Irish Open Online held in 2020 was a huge success, which we have planned to build on this year.”

A look at the partypoker Main Event

Players should expect some nice action from the series, which paid out €5.6 million to players in 2020. Brazil’s Pablo Brito Silva claimed the Main Event title, topping a field of 2,945 players to win €462,100. Silva was one of 22 champions who won events in the series.

The full 2021 series schedule includes a mix of No Limit Hold’em, Progressive Knockouts, and Pot Limit Omaha events.

The €1,100 Main Event comes with a €1 million guarantee and Day 1A kicks off on March 28. Two more starting flights are scheduled for April 4 and 5 in the three-day event. The tournament wraps up on April 7.

The Main Event winner not only earns the cash prize, but also a custom-made Irish Open trophy. Trophies will also be awarded to the winners of 11 other championship events.

Other partypoker Irish Open Online highlights

This year’s Irish Open Online also introduces a new event beginning on the same day as Day 1A of the Main Event. The Grand Prix Ireland is a €55 eight-max progressive knockout (PKO) event with a €250,000 guarantee.

The Grand Prix features nine starting flights between March 28 and April 5. Day 2 takes place the same day as the final flight with the final table concluding on April 6.

PKOs have become popular events with some interesting twists to a traditional bounty tournament. Instead of claiming an opponent’s complete bounty, only a portion goes to the winning player.

The other portion is added to the winning player’s bounty prize. This means bounties become more valuable the deeper a player gets in the event.

Another Irish Open event is the €530 JP Masters, a two-day event with a €250,000 guarantee. The tournament also features three starting flights beginning April 2.

The €320 Heads Up tournament promises a €25,000 guarantee and begins March 30. Most events also feature mini versions for those with smaller bankrolls. Here’s a look at the complete schedule:

Partypoker plans numerous satellites

Beyond mini options, partypoker is once again ramping up qualifiers to gain entry to major events. For the Main Event, satellites begin at just €0.01 with finals held every Sunday before the start of the festival. The finals guarantee 30 seats every week.

Players advancing in these “centrolls” move on to €1.10 buy-in Phase 1 events and then to the €11 Phase 2. Those who advance there then head to the weekly satellite final.

There is no direct buy-in to the final, so no player reaching that stage will pay more than €11. Additionally, €109 mega satellites for the Main Event will run before each Day 1.

More action underway at partypoker

It’s been a busy few weeks for partypoker. The MILLIONS Online runs through March 9 with $17.55 million guaranteed.

The site also recently announced another nice series in conjunction with the World Poker Tour. The WPT500 features 25 events running March 7-23 with buy-ins ranging from $50 to $5,000.

This is the second online WPT500 and players will find two championship events. Each of those comes with a $1 million guarantee.

The site also recently released a new online poker tutor, MyGame Whiz. The tool is meant to help newer players improve their skills and bring more recreational players into the game.

€50 FRENZY: Padraig O’Neill Turns Satellite Entry Into €80K & Unibet Open Online Title

Padraig O'Neill recently took down the €1,100 Unibet Open Online.

The changing poker landscape has greatly affected the routines of players around the world. Pros and recreational players alike have adjusted by moving more of their poker action online.

Irish player Padraig O’Neill is one of those and has added even more online card playing to his schedule in recent months. That brought big dividends on Oct. 12 when he won the €1,100 Unibet Open Online for an €80,000 payday.

The 31-year-old would normally spend about three months of the year playing in live tournaments. Now with the major live tournament scene mostly shut down, that’s not possible.

Instead, O’Neill hits the virtual tables four or five nights a week with 99% of his action in multi-table tournaments. No doubt he’s hoping more big scores are heading his way.

Taking down a record event at Unibet Poker

The €1,100 event in October was part of the Unibet Online Series 9 and was the biggest tournament in the site’s history. The two-day tournament featured a €250,000 guarantee and ultimately produced 357 entries for a €406,350 prize pool.

For O’Neill, his big score came after locking up a seat in a €50 satellite and then running it up. It was quite a return on investment.

“This was my biggest score so far,” O’Neill told USPoker. “After swaps I’ve had one or two similar scores before, but this felt bigger. Closing out a big multi-table tournament always feels good.”

Padraig O’Neill

Luck seemed to be rolling his way as O’Neill particularly remembers handing a few players some coolers. Some excellent instincts at the final table also paid off.

“I folded one river versus the chip leader with eight players left, which was a tough spot,” he says. “They had set me all-in. I hadn’t seen him/her doing anything too crazy up to that point so folded a pretty big hand.

“I believe the guys over at The Chip Race podcast are doing one of their strategy pieces on it and I probably won’t like the results but will hopefully learn something.”

No matter how that particular hand would have turned out, O’Neill’s work certainly paid off.

Poker student to full-time pro

No stranger to poker success, O’Neill has almost $350,000 in live tournament winnings as well as significant online scores. He’s originally from the town of Drumlish, Ireland, about 130 kilometers (80 miles) northwest of Dublin.

Like many modern poker players, university life proved to be O’Neill’s foray into poker. He first played a couple times with a roommate in college. That evolved into a weekly appearance in a home game and a student union game the following year.

“I remember the home game going to two days a week at one stage and starting to find it boring,” he says, “but I must have snapped out of it, as here I am a decade later.”

Padraig O’Neill battles it out on the World Poker Tour.

While O’Neill hasn’t been able to play in a casino in recent months, pandemic poker has been especially good. However, feeling some real cards and chips in his hands would be great.

“With all the prize pools inflated, someone has to run well and fortunately I’ve been the lucky mid-stakes guy to do that,” he says. “I am looking forward to live poker returning. Getting out of the house in any capacity will be welcomed. I’ve attended the World Series of Poker since 2012 and hope to get back out there.”

That event has also been delayed until the fall and no new dates have been announced. But like many, O’Neill is ready for his return to Las Vegas.

Finding success at the Unibet virtual tables

Like many online platforms, Unibet has seen record turnouts and growing prize pools in recent months. The site caters to more recreational players and features many lower and mid-stakes offerings.

Players can even change their usernames as many as three times per day and poker tracking software is banned. The site tries to live up to its motto: “By players, for players.”

Players at Unibet won’t find just smaller-stakes action however. There are also some larger buy-in events as well during some of the platform’s major series. What does O’Neill like about playing at Unibet compared to some other sites?

First, the tournament structures are great, he says. The smaller fields are also nice for players looking to finish up an event at a reasonable time. O’Neill also likes how players are treated.

“I can also say from experience that the support has been top notch,” he says. “No waiting three months for an email response.”

Away from poker, O’Neill enjoys running, swimming, and cycling. Reading and numerous podcasts also take up much of his time. He has an interest in history and is also now engaged. What’s next for Unibet’s newest champion?

“I just want to keep motivated,” he says, “and will play in the few dozen MTT series we’ll undoubtedly have in the next few months.”

Similar results as the Unibet Open Online would be nice and should certainly serve as some motivation.

Partypoker has three big serie planned over the next few months including the Monster Series.

The major online poker series just keeps coming from partypoker. The site recently announced two new series set to launch in the coming weeks.

The Monster Series fittingly kicks off on Halloween and runs through Nov. 16. The site has also announced that the Irish Poker Masters moves online this year with a main event guaranteeing $1 million.

The two events add to a big few months of poker for players of all bankrolls.

Monster schedule coming to partypoker

The value-packed Monster Series features 28 events offering a wide range of buy-in levels. That includes plenty of action daily for those with lower bankrolls, which should appeal to recreational players including:

  • Micro
  • Low
  • Mid
  • High
  • High Roller
  • Super High Roller

Limited re-entry and late registration in the 28 events should also appeal to the rec player segment. Events feature a range of formats running throughout the series including eight-max, knockout, deepstack, heads-up, and more.

Players will find mini versions of all key events, where buy-ins are 10% of the buy-in for the bigger version event.  Buy-ins start at just $0.55 with the highest price point set at only $265.

“The Monster Series is another sign of partypoker giving great opportunities to low and mid-stakes players, and with so many formats included in the schedule, there should be something on offer for everyone during the series,” Team partypoker’s Louise Butler said.

“The key events will make the series feel like a high-quality championship, and I’m looking forward to the start of the series at the end of this month.”

Numerous satellites are planned and are already underway, allowing players to gain entry at bargain prices. A pair of two-day main events are set to begin on Nov. 14. The $5.50 Mini Main Event offers up a $30,000 guarantee.

Those looking to raise the stakes will also find a $55 Main Event with a $300,000 guarantee. The series offers plenty of fun for players around the world and here’s a look at the complete schedule:

Luck of the Irish heads to partypoker

Players may be missing the green hills of the Emerald Isle this fall, but can still jump in the Irish action this fall. The Irish Poker Masters moves online this year and players around the globe can get in the action.

The series kicks off Dec. 6 and the €1,100 Main Event features a €1 million guarantee. Players can even qualify for as little as €0.01 and satellites are already running daily. These qualifiers feed into a weekly final every Saturday.

Like the Monster Series, partypoker plans on keeping all satellites affordable during this festival. No qualifier is priced more than €11 and 15 Main Event tickets are guaranteed every week.

During the Main Event, which kicks off Dec. 15, players will find two starting flights followed by two additional days of action.

Partypoker officials believe ramped-up satellites and limited late registration will cater to players of all types. Opportunities to win tournament dollars, which can be spent during the series, are also part of the mix. Daily tournament dollar satellites start for as little as $1.10 and for a maximum of $109

“I’m looking forward to playing the Irish Poker Masters Online on partypoker,” Team partypoker’s Louise Butler said. “It should be lots of fun.

“I love that partypoker are running so many satellites to a weekly final that doesn’t allow direct buy-ins. It gives lower-stake players a great chance to turn a small investment into a massive score.”

A full series schedule hasn’t been released yet, but PokerScout will have a complete preview when that’s available.

Caribbean Poker Party adds to big schedule

These two events now join the Caribbean Poker Party for a big fall. That series has transitioned online this year and tuns Nov. 15-25.

Normally held in the Bahamas, players around the world now have a shot at a title online. A full schedule hasn’t been released, but the $5,300 Main Event features a $5 million guarantee.

The first starting flight begins Nov. 15 with the second flight set for Nov. 22 with Day 2 and 3 continuing after that.

Players looking to qualify for the Main Event will find $55 satellites running daily beginning Nov. 15. Those qualifiers come with 10 seats guaranteed.
