One of the memorable faces from the 2000s poker boom era will soon be in another big-time poker spot. Erick Lindgren won the Hustler’s Casino $25,000 buy-in Million Dollar Game satellite on Sunday night for a cool $1 million to use in the HCL $1 million buy-in cash game.
Always at the forefront of cash game poker action, HCL has had several notable moments recently, including when three different players flopped a straight.
The $1 million cash game took place on Monday. Lindgren joined the lineup thanks to winning the 51-player satellite for the cash game buy-in grand prize. The rules stipulate that Lindgren must play at least eight hours in the $1 million cash game as the winner of this satellite.
Lindgren’s History
At one time, Lindgren was one of the most well-known poker players in the world. His name was in the same conversation as names that persist today, such as Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth. Some big-timers like Lindgren have faded over the years, such as Chris “Jesus” Ferguson and Jennifer Harman.
Lindgren’s career resume has over $11 million in winnings, with his best career cash coming back in 2004 for $1 million on a PartyPoker cruise.
The two-time WSOP bracelet winner’s poker resume has significantly reduced following his last major tournament win in 2013. He had two scores for over $600,000 in 2013, but after that year, he had far fewer results for the rest of the 2010s.
Now 48 years old, Lindgren has had an increase in results in recent years in terms of volume, although he is still searching for another big tournament score to return to his 2000s form.
This win on HCL would qualify as a big result for him as he will now have a chance to come out as a big winner in a massive cash game.
HCL Satellites
HCL will host another $25,000 satellite on Tuesday to give another player the same chance that Lindgren will have, in another million dollar cash game on Wednesday.
Other participants in the million dollar cash game who went up against Lindgren were be Michael “Texas Mike” Moncek, Peter Wang and Alan Keating, who have been involved in many huge notable cash game hands recently.
